Day 162: Opera National.
For days we've walked passed the Opera house in Bordeaux. It's in one of my favorite squares, where the Grand Hotel Bordeaux is, the Christmas Market begins, and it feels like everything sort of converges. Always so many people and lots to going on.
On our one weekend in Bordeaux, there was a small concert going on at the Opera - first come, first serve tickets. By the time we arrived, the place was nearly packed. But no matter, there wasn't a bad seat in the house.
The Opera house was intimate, and ornately decorated. Everything about it felt old school, and watching the musicians up so close made their intensity that much more exciting. A composer of one of the pieces was even in the audience not far from us, so applauding him at the end felt like a special moment.
A wonderful morning out.
