Day 109: Piazzale Michelangelo.

Day 109: Piazzale Michelangelo.

This past Saturday was a bit of a turning point for us, in every good way possible.

After the halfway point, and our time in Switzerland, we experienced a battle with colds, a string of bad weather, and a small bit of homesickness after cousin Mike left.  All these things left us in a bit of a haze about what we were doing and why we were in a foreign place away from all the "knowns" that would normally have comforted us.

And then Saturday came.  The weather was beautiful, everyone was friendly ("Ciao!" "Buongiorno!"), and the city just seemed to welcome us in a way that we needed.  We found the quaintest library with the best view of the Duomo, wandered through stores and little streets, and finally made our way up to Piazzale Michelangelo.

Once at the top, we grabbed a drink, settled onto the steps with everyone else, and enjoyed the next hour or so of beautiful colors and sunset.

Travel has been the best challenge for us, and the best reward.  It's a balance all the time, but mostly has made us move closer to one another and enjoy the smaller moments of every day.
