Day 111: Cinque Terre!

Cinque Terre!

Five cliff-side cities that are spread along the Italian Riviera.  The Sentiero Azzuro (or "Blue Trail") is a set of hiking paths that connects all the towns and allows incredible coastal views along the way.  We stuck to the trails between Corniglia, Vernazza, and a bit of Manarola.

Eight years ago, I came here with friends while studying abroad.  My reaction then was similar to now - I thought it was beautiful, stunning, and like nothing I'd seen before - but I think I almost had more appreciation for it this time around.  Didn't hurt that Vance and I were doing it together.

We had the best time, walking and chatting, stopping for focaccia at lunch, and taking in the views. The best was watching old Italian men breeze past us like those ascents were no big deal.  Ha!
