Day 155: Bonjour, Bordeaux.

Day 155: Bonjour, Bordeaux.

Our first few days in Bordeaux have confirmed that this was a perfect last location to our adventure.  Being a smaller town, with mild and sunny November weather (and a lack of tourists in this season), we are loving everything that is charming and beautiful about this place.

Sunday in the city involved wandering around, enjoying the weather and sights.  We window-shopped, stopped for coffee, and walked along the riverside.  The only item on our to-do list was to get to the market at Chartrons before it closed at 2.  We only intended to walk along the food and produce stalls, but the delish smells got the best of us and we ended up with some fish kabobs upon a recommendation.  Yum.

The neighborhood we are staying in is conveniently located near Place de la Bourse, with the Miroir d'Eau, or "Water Mirror," nearby.  The reflection of the buildings, and particularly, the waterfront, were beautiful at sunset.  I imagine we'll be back there a few more times.

Also, the way the French say "Bordeaux" is so delightful to me.  The combination of the throaty "r" and the "deaux" pronounced "do" illudes me.  I've tried repeatedly to replicate it, to no avail.
