Day 78: Vale Barca!

We finally experienced our first European football match!

In searching around on the interwebs about how and where to buy tickets, we read that Barca (like "Bar-sa") fans are "rowdy, yet docile ... just a bit loud."  We knew it was going to be a good time.

On the metro ride to Camp Nou, it seemed like half the city was heading to the game.  All different versions of the red and blue Barcelona jersey were being sported.  The atmosphere was really something else.

The match opened up with a roaring rendition of "El Cant del Barca," the club's anthem.  The game picked up pretty quickly, with Barca's favorite player, Lionel Messi, scoring within the first 5 minutes.  

Watching the fans was the most fun - the chanting and songs literally never stopped, and the enthusiasm really was contagious.  I became the biggest bandwagon fan of them all.  

Final Score:  Barca (7) vs. Celtic (0).  "Barca! Barca! Barrrrrrca!"
