Day 82: Montserrat.
The weather has suddenly turned fall here in Barcelona! A little jaunt up to the chilly mountains further inland only made us even more excited for a bit of sweater weather.
We visited the famed Montserrat Monastery. "Montserrat" literally means "saw mountains," which as the pictures suggest, accurately describe their jagged edges.
The monastery was built high up near the Sant Jeroni peak, and it's a wonder how it was built it in such remote circumstances. The most efficient way to get up to the monastery was by cable car (which we did), so I cannot imagine how all the structural stone was transported.
Though it was an already overcast day, the elevation only emphasized the feeling of being in the clouds.
