Day 83: Art De Catalunya.

Day 83: Art De Catalunya.

There is no shortage of Art Museums or Cathedrals in Europe, one can be sure.  But it's always fun to find those that feel a little new, or have a little different flair.

We visited the National Art Museum of Catalunya, housed in the old Palau Nacional in Placa Espanya.  While we waited for the 3:00pm free entry time (!!), we enjoyed the sunny weather, live music, and as always, people watching.  Placa Espanya is a flurry of activity.

The Catalan art inside was really pretty new to us both.  The Renaissance and Medieval art was sort of surprising, almost cartoonish.  The Modern art had the familiarity of famous styles, impression and cubism, but included many pieces we'd never seen before.  Really humbling to know how many artists were out there creating amazing work.

Next weekend's agenda:  Picasso Museum.
