Day 96: The Valley.

Day 96: The Valley.

Our second day in Switzerland was spent walking on top of, and through, the Lauterbrunnen Valley.  While the day was cloudy, it added the sort of mysterious wintry feeling that seemed to fit nicely with the scene.

We started the morning taking a cable car up to Grutschalp.  From there we walked along the ridge to the charming town of Murren, walked down a winding road to Gimmelwald, then another cable car down to Stechelberg. From Stechelberg, we walk along the valley floor all the way back to Lauterbrunnen.  If that sounds like a lot of walking, it was.  Ha!

Once we were walking through the valley, it was really incredible to look back up and think how high up we had been before.  The walls of the valley seemed endless.

Vance loved walking through the Alpine Forest.  Mike liked the glacier water (and trying at all cost to fill his water bottle).  Jeremy and I enjoyed taking photos and relishing in the drama of it all.

After a bit of a rest, Vance picked out a wonderful little dinner restaurant for us.  We had drinks, ate sausage and rosti, and sat talking in the afterglow of such a great day.
