Day 124: Roads of Tuscany.

Day 124: Roads of Tuscany.

For a few months we've talked about the possibility of doing a driving tour through Tuscany.  It seemed fitting for our time here, and a little different than anything we'd yet done.

We were a little curious (ie. anxious) to drive in a foreign country as neither of us has experience in that arena, and not to mention, neither of us has been behind a wheel in four months.  But, after a few minutes of practicing in the parking lot, Vance was back in the swing of manual driving, and we were feeling good about getting on the road.

"The drive is the destination," is what I kept reading as I did a little research for where to go and what to do.  We simply picked out a few towns as a rough guide, and planned to wander between them.  Greve in Chianti, San Gimignano, and Castellina.

The windy roads really were something else.   With the start of fall settling in, It felt like the Blue Ridge Parkway and "Under the Tuscan Sun" combined.  The best of both, really.
