Day 39: The Riva Promenade.

Day 39: The Riva Promenade.

The Riva.  Split's community living room.

Everyone, from old to young, congregates here to enjoy a cafe, a croissant, or just a morning stroll. The Fetivi (short for "Fetivi Splicani" or "real Split natives") we have talked to are so proud of their little town, and their Riva. They know it's a gem of a place, and aren't afraid to enjoy it as best they can.

A short 15 minute walk from our apartment, the Riva will be a ready spot for us.  We've already enjoyed working at Caffe Bar Paradiso, buying a new floppy beach hat (!!) from the market, and walking along the palms.

August brings in a welcome crowd of European holiday visitors to Split and we've been lucky (and humbled) that this means most folks in shops along the Riva speak English.  Živjeli!
